Mark Ballas will perform at the Iowa State Fair

Mark Ballas announced on Twitter that he will return to Iowa to perform an acoustic set at the Iowa State Fair.

He will appear with Shawn Johnson 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 during the opening ceremonies at The Grandstand.

He says he is “so excited” and promises to sing “Every Step of the Way,” which is a song he wrote in March and performed during the “Shawn Johnson and Friends” event July 26 at Wells Fargo Arena (see video below). Of that performance, Ballas said it was the best experience he had performing music for a live audience.

State Fair marketing director Lori Chappell says that he wrote that song for Johnson. Ballas will also perform another time/place at the State Fair Aug. 13, but as of now, the details are TBA.

Mark Ballas is a professional dancer and also fronts the Ballas Hough Band with fellow dancer Derek Hough. Ballas and Shawn Johnson were the season eight winners of “Dancing with the Stars.”

Mark perfomed at the "Shawn Johnson & Friends" show held in Des Moines, Iowa on July 26, 2009. He danced with Shawn, Kristi Yamaguchi, Derek Hough and Lacey Schwimmer, as well as performing with BHB band.

Shawn Johnson gets dipped by pal and dancing partner Mark Ballas as they arrive at the 2009 CMT Music Awards held at the Sommet Center on Tuesday evening (June 16) in Nashville, Tenn.

The 17-year-old Olympian, wearing an Elizabeth and James strapless tulip dress, tweeted from the event, saying, “Just finished the red carpet at the CMTs OMG it’s hot out but Mark and I are presenting tonight make sure to tune in!!!”

So its been a hectic couple of weeks, action packed and fun, but definitely hectic.
I have to say i am extremely proud of Shawns progress so far, and i really hope all of you have been enjoying our performances so far, i am really excited for the V Waltz next week.
The Ballas Hough Band shows have been getting better and better every week, and our live show is really developing and i couldn't be more excited, I am hoping that those of you who haven't been over to the grove shows yet can come and catch one very soon, we are going to be there every Tuesday at 8pm, on the Lawn at the grove till the end of the season, and we are gonna make the show different every week, different songs, special guests its going to be a blast.
Julianne Hough played with us a week ago and her and Derek did a duet which was really cool to play, and then she sang on our Song (Do you love me) which was fun,
This week, we had the lovely Joanna Pacitti sing a new song that she wrote called (Storm before the calm) and it was amazing to have her on stage with us her vocals were amazing and it was awesome to have Joanna sing on our song (Fall) which she co-wrote with us..........
I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have been supporting Shawn and I and of-course Ballas Hough Band, and i hope all of you who went out and picked up the record are loving it, and if you havent heard it yet grab a copy and let us know what you think.....
Well just wanted to keep you all updated, and i hope to see you at the grove.

After the big day....

Current mood: confused

So its been a couple of days since Ballas Hough Bands album came out, and i gotta say its been a crazy few days, so many emotions and feelings it has been overwhelming.
Was so amazing to walk into Barnes and Noble and see our album on display for all to see, I want to thank everyone who picked up a copy, and say thank you for the love and the support it really means the world to us, Our gig went well at the grove too, was a great turn out considering it was the first grove show, there were a few technical things but all in all it was a night i will never forget, and a moment i will hold in my heart always and forever,
I am really looking forward to the rest of the Grove shows and it was so awesome to have all our friends from DWTS especially Shawn and lil KIm there to support and show us love.
well i hope to see some of you at the grove every Tuesday for the next 10 weeks.
